È stato rilasciato il 3 ottobre 2005 nel Regno Unito attraverso la Visible Noise Records e il 14 febbraio 2006 negli Stati Uniti attraverso la Trustkill Records. Da quest'album sono stati rilasciati quattro singoli: 4 Words (To Choke Upon), Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow (What Can I Do), All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me) e Tears Don't Fall. L'album ha venduto circa 250000 copie.

The Poison è stato nuovamente rilasciato nel Regno Unito il 28 agosto 2006, attraverso la Visible Noise Records. L'album contiene due dischi,con quattro tracce bonus (due b-sides & due tracce dal vivo) nel primo, mentre il secondo disco è un DVD che contiene sei video della band.
